2 Highland Games competitions - 3rd place in both of them. Saw Dan John again, met Brian Oldfield in a spur of the moment visit to John Powell's Discus Camp at Denison University
1 Grip Contest - PRed in most events without training for them, met some super cool folks (Ben Edwards, Jedd Johnson, Aaron C., Josh, John Eaton, etc)
Quite a few trips to the beach in lovely Ludington, MI.
Enjoying my baby girl's last summer of being a baby. She starts preschool in the fall. My heart is breaking as I write this.
Watched my son Conner give himself his first injection of growth hormone like a champ. This took months and months of dancing around with the insurance company until it finally happened. I'm hoping for nothing but clear sailing and white lights for this kid.
My oldest son, Gage, is 13, and he's starting to get into training with me. Gage absolutely loves the grip stuff and deadlifts and swinging the sledgehammer. How's that for a start?
Going Shitty:
Jesse Marunde and I have been swapping emails since 1999 or so. I watched his meteoric rise to the pinacle of the strongman sport, and his growth into a strong man (more than just physically). We'd chat about his former mentor, the late JV Askem, kids, dogs, training....all that crap. As damn near all of the readers of this will know, he passed away last Wednesday at a young age. RIP Jesse. I'll miss you.
Once again..this is going slow. I'm going to pick it up a notch. Probably not as high as Rick, who's a posting and lifting machine, but it's going to go.
